We’re always looking for ways to make things easier and more efficient for our partners.
Today, we’re thrilled to announce the release of our first webhook – designed to bring real-time updates directly into your workflows, cutting out manual processes and streamlining automation like never before.
So, what exactly are webhooks, and why is this launch so impactful? Here’s everything you need to know to get started with Tillo’s newest feature.
While APIs and webhooks might seem similar, they serve different purposes and offer unique advantages.
APIs operate on a pull mechanism – your system initiates a request to fetch or send data. This means you decide when to call the API, and you only get a response when a request is made. Great for on-demand access but limited when it comes to real-time updates.
Webhooks, however, work on a push mechanism. This means that instead of requesting updates, the server automatically sends the data directly to your system as soon as an event occurs. It’s a hands-off approach for your team, so they can focus on what matters without constantly checking in.
Our buyers have long asked for an easier way to stay up-to-date on brand statuses. Until now, this required polling the brand information endpoint, sometimes every hour, just to keep information current. This manual process left room for discrepancies – a brand’s status could change after a check, leaving up to an hour of potential misalignment.
Now, with our new Brand Status Update webhook, buyers can receive instant notifications whenever a brand’s status changes. This means no more waiting or guessing. If a brand is disabled, your system knows about it immediately, and you can take action to update your platform in real-time.
Real-time updates don’t just save time for our buyers; they also improve the experience for your end customers.
In the past, if an end user attempted to purchase a gift card from a recently disabled brand, there was a chance they would have to be refunded, causing frustration and disrupting their experience.
With webhooks, these issues become a thing of the past – by automating updates, buyers can now keep their offerings current without lifting a finger. This isn’t just about making things simpler; it’s about putting an end to user frustration.
We’re currently preparing for a wider rollout of our Brand Status Update webhook to all buyers in 2025, but if you’re eager to get started, don’t wait! Reach out to our tech team at techteam@tillo.io to be among the first to integrate this feature and begin reaping the benefits of real-time automation.
And this is just the beginning – we have big plans for webhooks in 2025 and beyond. From float balance updates to order success/failure notifications and campaign promotions, our goal is to empower you with seamless access to the data you need when you need it. So, watch this space!
